Griffith University Courses

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Professional Nursing, applicants must hold:

• a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent degree from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing)
  AND
• current or temporary unrestricted registration as a nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Degrees from overseas institutions must be assessed as equivalent to a recognised Australian accredited degree.

The School of Nursing and Midwifery has instituted a Recognition of Prior Experience (RPE) procedure for registered nurses who do not have an undergraduate qualification. Applicants will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate eligibility requirements. The School of Nursing and Midwifery will determine eligibility for admission into the requested program based on application, curriculum vitae and referee reports.

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Catchment Science, an applicant must have:

• hold a related Bachelor degree (or higher) from a recognised University (or another tertiary institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale) and at least one year of professional experience OR
• hold a Griffith Graduate Certificate in Catchment Hydrology OR
• hold a Griffith Graduate Certificate in Catchment Processes.

Students admitted to this degree program with a Graduate Certificate in Catchment Hydrology or Graduate Certificate in Catchment Processes will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing towards the Masters.

Consideration for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Suicidology program will be given to those candidates who have:

• completed a Bachelor degree in any discipline
• OR a health or social sciences-related Diploma or Certificate IV VET/TAFE qualification plus two years relevant work experience.

While the Master of Primary Maternity Care is mainly designed for registered midwives, it is also available to other health professionals in the maternity services sector.

All applicants seeking to undertake the Master of Primary Maternity Care must hold:

• a Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a suitable professional health practice discipline such as midwifery, medicine, nursing or social work from a recognised tertiary institution with a GPA of 4.0 or above
• OR a Graduate Certificate in Primary Maternity Care from Griffith University (students will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing and will be required to complete 80 credit points in the program).

To eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Water Leadership, a student must:

• hold a related Bachelor degree OR
• two years professional work experience in a relevant field

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Diploma of Rotary Wing Flight Management, a student must:

• have met the graduation requirements for one of the following programs:
  • Bachelor of Aviation (1517)
  • Bachelor of Aviation Management (1367)
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Aviation (1584);
• have successfully completed the Bachelor of Aviation elective course Rotary Wing Operations (3535NSC);
• attend and complete specified preparatory training under the professional development program referred to as Mentoring Aviators through Educational Support (MATES);
• hold a current Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Class 1 Medical Certificate for a Commercial Pilot Licence (the medical must be carried out by a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner (DAME) and a full list of the DAMEs is available on the CASA website;
• have an Aviation Reference Number (ARN);
• successfully complete the Griffith University Pilot Aptitude Assessment*;
• successfully complete the Graduate Diploma of Rotary Wing Flight Management selection interview.

All students who apply for entry into the Graduate Diploma of Rotary Wing Flight Management are required to complete the Selection Supplement and submit it with their application.

* Information on undertaking the Griffith Aviation Pilot Aptitude Assessment will be available through the MATES program.

Applicants for the Master of Professional Engineering Leadership must:

• possess an accredited or recognised four-year Bachelor degree in Engineering from a recognised university (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing)
• AND have been awarded Chartered Professional Engineer Status (CPEng) by Engineers Australia.

Upon acceptance, students will be granted 40 credit points of advanced standing on the basis of their current Chartered Status through Engineers Australia.

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Business Cyber Security, an applicant must:

• hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 point scale)
• OR have a minimum of five years equivalent full-time professional work experience in a relevant field.

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Employment Relations, a student must:

• hold any Bachelor degree (or higher) from a recognised University (or another tertiary institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale), OR
• have a minimum of five years equivalent full-time professional work experience in a relevant field, OR
• have a combination of alternative admission criteria such as formal, informal and non-formal learning deemed to be equivalent to either of the above.

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Data Science, an applicant must:

• hold a Bachelor degree or Bachelor Honours degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 point scale)
• OR have a minimum of five years equivalent full-time professional work experience in a relevant field.

Completion of this Graduate Certificate is a pathway into the Master of Information Technology (5612), where applicants may be eligible for 40 credit points of credit.

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Professional Studies, an applicant must:

• hold a Bachelor degree or higher from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 point scale), OR
• have a minimum of three years equivalent full-time professional work experience, OR
• have a combination of alternative admission criteria such as formal, informal and non-formal learning deemed to be equivalent to the above.

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Mental Health Practice, a student must have completed:

• a Bachelor degree (or higher) in any discipline;
• OR a relevant Certificate IV or Diploma - VET/TAFE qualification and a minimum of one year full-time professional experience in the mental health, health, disability, rehabilitation or related human services fields;
• OR a minimum of three years full-time professional experience in the disability, rehabilitation, mental health, or related human services fields and can demonstrate ability to undertake graduate study through the provision of curriculum vitae and an employer's reference.
