Entry Requirements

A candidate shall:

(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification or an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Bachelor with Honours or AQF Level 9 Master qualification in a non-relevant discipline; or

(b) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification in Linguistics or AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Bachelor with Honours or AQF Level 9 Master qualification in a non-relevant discipline and either relevant work experience or other relevant qualification; or

(c) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification in Linguistics with relevant work experience or an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Bachelor with Honours qualification in linguistics or relevant discipline*; and

(d) must meet the University's English Language Requirements for Admission Rule.

Applicants wishing to claim 'relevant work experience or other relevant qualifications' must complete and submit the document provided.

*Relevant Disciplines include the following: English; Languages; or Education with a major in English literacy, LOTE or ESL; Psychology; Philosophy; Interpreting and Translation; Speech Pathology; Cultural Studies; Social Sciences; Computer Science; Law; Business and Health.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, applicants must:

  • hold a Bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised tertiary institution OR
  • hold a Bachelor degree or a Graduate Certificate in a related discipline or a Bachelor Honours in a non-related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution (students will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing) OR
  • hold a Bachelor Honours degree or a Graduate Diploma in a related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution (students will be eligible for 80 credit points of advanced standing) OR
  • have a combination of alternative admission criteria such as formal, informal and non-formal learning deemed to be equivalent to any of the above (students may be eligible for 10 to 80 credit points of advanced standing).

Note: Degrees from overseas institutions must be assessed as equivalent to a recognised Australian qualification.
