• Completed High School Certificate with the minimum ATAR required (including adjustment factors) or equivalent.
• Successful completion of two university level subjects (AQF level Associate Degree or higher) demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.
• A completed AQF Certificate III or higher level qualification.
• 50% completion of an AQF Diploma level qualification.
• A completed Tertiary Preparation Course from an Australian University or an accredited provider demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.

An Academic IELTS of 6.5 with no score below a 6.0 in each of the individual skill areas or a qualification deemed equivalent. Attended and satisfactorily completed either an undergraduate degree or at least four years of any combination of secondary or tertiary education, including at least two years between years 9 to 12, taught and assessed solely in English in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, UK or USA.

Written evidence of completion of a university degree that was conducted and examined solely in English. Acceptable forms of evidence include transcripts indicating that the language of instruction was English or by the provision of a certified written statement from the academic institution.

• 50% completion of an AQF Diploma level qualification OR
• Successful completion of a Tertiary Preparation Course from an Australian University or an accredited provider demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies OR
• Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) with an equivalent ranking to the currently listed ATAR OR
• Demonstrated work experience of a minimum of 2 years full-time equivalence in an information or cultural organisation such as an academic, public, school or corporate library, data or archival centre, government information agency, museum, gallery or other information or cultural organisation will be considered.

Entry requirements

Applicants will be admitted to the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) if prior studies are assessed as meeting the Selection Rank for the course (see below). This includes applicants who meet the selection rank but have NOT achieved three HSC Band 5's with one of those in English. This requirement is met through the course design which has students studying a full first year of discipline studies in the subjects they will teach and a mathematics/numeracy discipline subject (0 points). In addition, applicants must meet non-academic entry requirements.

Applicants with recent secondary education (within past two years)

Applicants with higher education study

Successful completion of at least two university level subjects (AQF level Associate Degree or higher) demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.

Applicants with vocational education and training (VET) study

• A completed AQF Certificate III (or higher) at an accredited provider demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.
• 50% completion of an AQF Diploma level qualification at an accredited provider demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.

Applicants with work and life experience

• Commissioned Officers from Australian Police, Fire, Mercantile Marine, Civil Aviation and Defence Forces (and related) can be admitted on the basis of rank, license, class, length of service and/or competencies achieved.

Completed bridging or enabling course

Successful completion of a Tertiary Preparation Course from an Australian University or an accredited provider demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.

Applicants must demonstrate minimum capability in the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) non-academic attribute and motivation requirements for effective teachers.

English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements

Students must meet one of the following criteria:

• Born in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, USA, or United Kingdom, and have completed at least one senior secondary or tertiary qualification in one of these countries. This qualification must have been taught and assessed in English; OR
• Not born in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, USA, or United Kingdom, but have completed senior secondary study or at least three years of full-time university study (or equivalent) in one of these countries, and the language in which the qualification was taught and assessed was English; OR

Applicants for the Postgraduate Diploma of Psychology must meet the following Admission Requirements:

• Completion of Charles Sturt University's Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) within the previous ten years with a Grade Point Average of 5.0 or higher in core level 2 & 3 psychology subjects of the accredited sequence
• OR Completion of Charles Sturt's Graduate Diploma of Psychology within the previous ten years with a Grade Point Average of 5.0 or higher
