Charles Darwin University (CDU) Courses

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree or equivalent international qualification.

Please note that credit will not be permitted for any units completed as part of the recognised bachelor degree (or equivalent international qualification) used as the basis of admission.

To be eligible, you must have completed:

• the equivalent of half a semester of research activity at a postgraduate level; and
• comparable levels of research, such as scholarly publications.

You must also plan to conduct research that is compatible with the research priorities and resources of this University. When you apply, you must submit a research proposal, comprising 500 to 1000 words.

The research priorities of this University tend to revolve around:

• tropical, regional, and remote health - including nursing, midwifery, and allied health;
• environmental studies;
• energy, resources, and engineering;
• social and public policy in Northern Australia and the region;
• community resilience;
• cybersecurity and IT;
• business and law; and
• education.

Successful completion of one of the following:

• a recognised bachelor degree or equivalent international qualification in a related field; or
• a recognised bachelor degree in an unrelated field plus completion of a graduate diploma in a related field or equivalent international qualification.

Related fields include: biological science, earth science, environmental engineering, environmental science, geography, geographic information or sustainability studies.

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree, graduate certificate, graduate diploma, masters degree or equivalent international qualification.

Consideration will be given to applicants who have a diploma level qualification or above and at least five years relevant professional experience.

Applicants must provide further documentation detailing their employment experience (i.e. work experience certificate from an employer/s) and outlining their roles and achievements in the form of a curriculum vitae (CV) and a statement of purpose. The statement of purpose should address why you would like to be admitted into the course, career goals and aspirations and benefits the course will provide you.

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree, graduate diploma, master's degree or equivalent international qualification. Registered nurses who are graduates of a hospital-based program are also eligible for entry

Consideration will be given to applicants who only hold a graduate certificate.

Admission requirements are met by one of the following:

• Successful completion of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (or equivalent) and the awarding of an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of at least 60*.
• Successful completion of a national qualification at Certificate III level or higher.
• Successful completion of at least 0.5 year of full-time study (or equivalent) of a higher education degree/diploma.
• Overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications considered equivalent to the above Australian qualifications.
• Attainment of a STAT Multiple Choice score of 140.
• Successful completion of the Tertiary Enabling Program, the Preparation for Tertiary Success courses, or other recognised tertiary preparation course.
• Submission of an acceptable personal competencies statement and/or employment experience.
• Defence members with service of 1 year or more at the following ranks (or higher) meet the academic entry requirement for this course:
  • Navy: Seaman, Able Seaman, Leading Seaman
  • Air Force: Aircraftmen/Aircraftwoman, Leading Aircraftman/Aircraftwoman, Corporal
  • Army: Private, Lance Corporal, Corporal
