  • Current employment in an organisational context where prospective students provide counselling, case management or other direct social work practice with clients. This is in contrast to social workers who work primarily in administrative, policy, or management roles.

Eligibility of the AASW ensures that students are professional social workers, are committed to the values and ethics of the profession and have had prior education in social work practice methods including counselling. The AASW also expects social workers to have participated in professional development activities (of up to 30 hours per year) and to have received professional supervision. The MCSW facilitates learning in the counselling frameworks that support Accredited Mental Health Social Work status with the AASW.

Gateway Admission Pathway
This scheme is open to students in Years 11 and 12 who attend Gateway schools. It significantly adjusts the ATAR requirements for your preferred UNSW degree and provides you with an early conditional offer to UNSW.

Entry programs for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
We offer entry programs for Indigenous Australians, including the Indigenous Preparatory Programs and the Indigenous Admission Scheme (IAS). The entry pathway program you apply for will depend on the degree you want to study.

The Faculty of Engineering Admission Scheme (FEAS) is a possible alternative admission pathway for the admission of domestic undergraduate students to UNSW Faculty of Engineering degree programs, including the BSc Computer Science and the BSc Food Science (Hons), who do not meet the published Guaranteed Entry selection rank. TAFE Admission Pathways
If you've studied a relevant diploma under a TAFE Training Package, you can receive credit transfer for up to 60 units of credit (UOC) into the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Surveying). Please see here for the Bachelor of Engineering (Surveying) (Honours) TAFE Pathway Study Plan.

Recognition of Prior Learning (Credit Transfer)

UNSW recognises that many students have professional experience or relevant previous studies. If you have worked in a relevant industry or have relevant previous study experience, you may be eligible for credit points that would enable you to complete your Master of Engineering Science in as little as one year, or another accelerated option listed below dependent on your previous study and experience.

1 Year Program:

  • If you have a 4-year Bachelor of Engineering degree from Australia or accredited under the Washington Accord in one of the cognate disciplines below with a minimum 65% average*

or,

  • a 4-year Bachelor of Engineering degree not accredited under the Washington Accord in one of the cognate disciplines below with a minimum 65% average*, including: a final year capstone design or research project, a project management course, and 3 years of work experience in a relevant professional engineering role, you will be given 48 Units of Credit.

A pathway for entry into the program for graduates from both 4-year Bachelor of Engineering degrees in non-cognate disciplines, and 3-year Bachelor of Science degrees, exists via enrolment first into the Bachelor of Engineering (BE) program, where advanced standing (to a maximum of 2 years) may be granted.
