Graduate certificates and diplomas from the University of Sydney and similar institutions are an ideal way of gaining a good understanding of paediatric fundamentals. A valuable array of units are available in each, with diplomas offering a wider selection. Available subjects include:
Graduate certificates take six months of full-time study to complete, or up to two years part-time. Diplomas are longer at one year of full-time study and up to three years part-time. This makes them an ideal way for doctors to succinctly gain insight into the field and start practising sooner.
The avenues to employment mentioned here are well suited to graduates from these programs. Consulting with the Australian Paediatric Society, for instance, is a great way to become a paediatric medical professional helping children out in remote areas who otherwise wouldn’t have access to hospitals and clinics. Joining the Paediatrics & Child Health Division of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians is another great path to networking opportunities, further learning and employment.
Most medicine scholarships are available at higher levels, but there are general scholarships still available.
These programs require a Bachelor of Medicine at a minimum. This is due to the high extent of assumed knowledge all units depend upon.
