These courses are designed to provide baseline knowledge of business administration for graduates who may not necessarily have taken undergraduate study in a related field. Students can expect to study proper management practice, accounting, marketing and more throughout the course of this one year program.
These courses will be similar across different universities, but each will have their own priorities. For example, the program at Deakin University supports managerial economics as part of its core curriculum, whereas the University of Queensland equivalent provides a dedicated IT for business component.
Having an extent of self-sufficiency in being able to read financial reports, interpret economic trends, communicate effectively and advertise gives graduates the opportunity to be more successful as a manager or entrepreneur.
It’s far more common to find dedicated scholarships in this field at masters level, but there are still general scholarship opportunities available. Victoria University, for example, provides the opportunity for postgraduates to apply for a general scholarship, which is available across many other disciplines.
Unlike the master and doctoral equivalents, the Graduate Certificate or Diploma of Business Administration does not require any work experience. Instead, it requires little more than an undergraduate degree in any field with a 4.0 GPA minimum, making it a highly accessible gateway to further study in business administration and a sound knowledge base in its own right.
