Entry Requirements
Applicants for this program must hold a Bachelor's degree from a recognised higher education provider. Students who have English as an additional language and are admitted on the basis of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) assessment, or an equivalent English language proficiency assessment, are only admitted if they have attained an overall score of 7.5 in IELTS Academic, with no score lower than 8.0 in speaking and listening, and no score lower than 7.0 in reading and writing.
The Master of Mathematics for Secondary Education is designed to retrain approved primary and secondary school teachers in teaching secondary mathematics. It comprises mathematics teaching methods and content that includes statistics, algebra, discrete mathematics and calculus, as well as electives.
This teacher education preparation course provides students with a master's qualification to teach in NSW secondary schools. Students who have both the required undergraduate degree and specialisation subjects can complete the course in two years.
The Master of Teaching (Secondary) is a two-year equivalent accelerated secondary teacher degree that can be completed in four terms (1.3 years). Once you have completed your first year of study you will be eligible to apply for a job in NSW Schools.

Entry Requirements
Admission to candidature requires:
a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification; and
completion of the teaching area specialisation requirements specified by the Faculty; and
completion of any additional qualifying courses prescribed by the Faculty.
Applicants who are one unit of study (equivalent to one quarter of a semester of full-time study or 0.125 EFTSL) short of meeting the prerequisites for admission to the Master of Teaching (Secondary) may be given special permission to study the deficient unit in another faculty or institution during their first semester while undertaking their Master of Teaching.
