You must have:

  • A recognised bachelor degree (or higher) in nursing.
  • Current registration as a Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Academic entry requirements

You need either:

  • a completed recognised bachelor degree (or higher award)
    with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4 (on QUT's 7 point scale)
    in nursing; or
  • a completed recognised associate degree in nursing and one of year work experience as a registered nurse (or equivalent).

The Master of Advanced Practice Nursing does not lead to registration as a nurse in Australia. Entry Requirements
Prior study entry requirement

You must have a completed postgraduate qualification from a recognised higher education institution in a relevant clinical field.

Hospital and professional training certificates etc are not acceptable in lieu of a higher education postgraduate qualification. Incomplete postgraduate studies are also not acceptable.

Professional registration entry requirement

You must have current registration as a nurse (Division 1) without conditions with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

Clinical practice entry requirements

You must:

  • be currently working in an advanced nursing practice role
  • have a minimum of four years full-time (or equivalent) clinical practice experience as a registered nurse in the nominated speciality
  • have a minimum of two years full-time (or equivalent) experience (within the last six years) in an advanced nursing practice role in the nominated speciality
  • have the support of your Executive Director of Nursing (or equivalent).
