Masters (Coursework)
The Master of Event Management (Extension) provides a substantial overview of the events industry and is designed to develop advanced professional skills and knowledge to sufficiently equip students for management positions in the broad and multifaceted events industry. With this in mind, the program includes subjects that seek to develop an understanding of event creation, planning, delivery, marketing and evaluation processes and practices of various forms of events in both Australian and international contexts. The course develops advanced skill sets needed for managers to operate in the events industry. The course has a strong focus on professional practice, including two innovative capstone subjects - Industry Research Capstone or Internship Experience Capstone - which allow students to work either on or with contemporary industry issues and opportunities. Elective subject choices provide students an opportunity to specialise more deeply in event management and related fields and further enhance students' management skills, professional practice, specialist knowledge and capabilities. Course structures include a suggested list of elective options for students to assist their choice and to identify allied or complementary subjects to the event management field.
Graduates of this program can pursue careers in such areas as festival management, conference and meeting management, sport event management, venue management, exhibition management, event marketing and sponsorship, corporate event management, event risk management, and event theming and design.
