Graduate Certificate
UTS Graduate Certificate in Design is an entry-level postgraduate course that allows students with a degree in a discipline other than Design to transition into the Master of Design or Master of Design (Extension). The course draws on aspects of the School’s highly-regarded undergraduate design program to provide the design research and practice fundamentals required for the emerging and increasingly important disciplines of social and service design, transition design, and design leadership.
This course supports entry into UTS Master of Design degrees. Alternatively, students may choose to graduate with this graduate certificate qualification after one session (24 credit points) of postgraduate coursework in design. Subjects offered in the graduate certificate are drawn from a broader suite of subjects offered across the UTS School of Design's masters programs.
The course offers those from a non-design background the opportunity to acquire design research, visualization and prototyping skills that allow them craft persuasive design propositions. Graduates' careers are enhanced by higher-order design knowledge and expertise. Students wishing to develop further skills in social and service design, transformational design or design leadership may choose to complete the Master of Design or Master of Design (Extension).
Students must complete 24 credit points of subjects.
