Overview

• Prepare for the emerging healthcare challenges of the 21st century and study a Master of Public Health.

• Choose between course work only or course work plus research, where you will be able to complete a research project. This option is ideal if you're wanting to pursue further research as you will meet the eligibility requirements for a PhD.
• Explore epidemiology, social and behavioural determinants of health, health systems, environmental and physical determinants of health, as well as health promotion.

• Employment in public health can come from a wide range of sectors, including government (federal, state and local), non-government health agencies, not-for-profit health agencies, and corporate firms.
• Most roles at the graduate-level are project-based and include titles, such as Public Health Officer, Project Manager, Health Promotion Officer, Health & Well-Being Coordinator, or Health Advocate.

Degree structure

To complete this degree students must complete 16 units. Most courses (similar to 'subjects') are valued at 1 unit. To study full-time you would usually complete 4 units per semester.

Clinical experience

In addition to the courses to be studied, you will also need to complete clinical experience, where interactive hands-on activities, such as experiments and use of specialist equipment, are undertaken.

All students must be able to meet the physical and other professional requirements of clinical/professional practice within this degree.

Residential schools

You are required to attend mandatory on-campus residential schools in two courses at UniSQ Ipswich and mandatory online workshops in three courses.
