  • Through self-assessment and workplace portfolios you will demonstrate how you may already meet Engineers Australia's competencies and identify the technical courses you will need to complete in order to graduate.
  • Available to study through distance education, the Master of Engineering Practice allows you to get a step ahead without having to step back from your work or life commitments.
  • You will build upon your prior knowledge in Power Engineering with advanced studies in areas such as electrical technology and electricity supply systems.
  • Your capstone course will see you working in UniSQ's state-of-the-art laboratories on advanced electrical and electronic equipment not always available in the workplace.
Further study

Graduates from the Master of Engineering Practice are eligible to be considered for higher research degrees such as the Master of Research or PhD studies.

Professional accreditation

The program is accredited by Engineers Australia and graduates are eligible for Graduate membership at the Professional Engineer level.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements
  • Australian university three year Bachelor degree in engineering science or engineering technology in the relevant specialisation area, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years' relevant professional work experience.
  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident; citizen of New Zealand or holder of a valid visa with a duration of at least three years.
English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Residential schools

This degree has a mandatory attendance requirement for some of the residential school courses. All students will have the opportunity to come on-campus for residential schools, where you will attend face-to-face lectures and tutorials to gain practical experience, use facilities and specialist equipment, and meet staff and other students.
