Aborigines Advancement League Grant (Full Time)

Study Grants are available for Australian *Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students of the University of South Australia and Flinders University who are enrolled full-time in a postgraduate or Medical degree and are permanent residents of South Australia.

Recipients will be determined by the Selection Committee of the Aborigines Advancement League based upon Grade Point Average (GPA); a written statement; a supporting statement from the applicant's program director, course coordinator or supervisor; and economic need of the applicant.

The applicant's written statement should outline:

• How they identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander citizen.
• Community service involvement.
• The name of their current program and reasons for studying it.
• Expected completion date.
• Details of undergraduate program and academic achievements.
• Future career goals.
• Details of yearly personal or combined family income.

The grants will be offered for the life of the recipient's program, for a maximum of two years for full-time students. The number of grants awarded each year is dependent on the income generated by the Aboriginal Advancement League Fund.

Grant recipients are expected to attend the next biennial Duguid Memorial Lecture given after they receive their grant.

University of South Australia students are expected to apply via myScholarships located within their student portal.

Value: 

$5,000 per annum to a maximum of $10,000 provided the recipient continues to achieve satisfactory academic progress.
