Part of the University's Excellence in Clinical Teaching (EXCITE) program, the Master of Clinical Education is a highly flexible program that allows you to share expertise, build networks and grow your career opportunities alongside clinical teachers from a variety of professional backgrounds.

Designed for health professionals currently involved in clinical teaching, the program provides an opportunity to develop recognised expertise and gain valuable insight and experience in clinical education theory, practice and research.

The masters program is designed to be taken over three years part-time, allowing you to fit study around your work schedule and become a clinical education leader at a pace that suits. In your first year, you can choose from two different study modes: standard or intensive. Both modes are delivered over one year with the same content, however in the intensive mode, synchronous sessions are delivered over a more condensed period.

With a specific research aim, you will focus on academic engagement with the theory and practice of clinical education, taking a breadth of innovative subjects supporting you to become a leader.

In this course you will develop an academic engagement with the theory and practice of clinical education.

Courses in the EXCITE program are highly practical and focused on making the role of the clinical educator more effective and efficient. As well as learning about translating educational theory into clinical practice, you will take leadership training and undertake a research project tailored to a topic important in your field of work.

Working with experienced research supervisors, your research project will comprise:

  • Collection and analysis of data
  • A systematic review of literature
  • An evaluation study, or a design of an educational innovation relevant to your clinical practice.
