The Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Research and Leadership (GC-IRL) is an interdisciplinary coursework program that aims to develop leadership skills and capacity in, or involving, Indigenous research. Applicants for the course must either have completed the Professional Certificate in Indigenous Research (GC-IRPRO), or have already completed a doctorate (see Entry Requirements). The curriculum of the course is underpinned by Indigenous perspectives and has aspects which can be tailored to each participant's work context and career.

The course comprises two core subjects:

  • MULT90022: Indigenous Research (the Professional Certificate in Indigenous Research), and
  • MULT90024: Indigenous Research and Leadership.

MULT90024 is taught as a winter intensive comprising both online and on-campus components.

Who is this course for?

People of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent who have completed or are nearing completion* of a doctoral degree and are ready for a leadership role.

Please note: We do not recommend this course for those who are just about to submit their theses due to the time commitments required for the assessment component. If you are close to submission but wish to apply for this course, your letter of support from your supervisor must indicate that you will be able to complete the assessment requirements.
