The Master of Optometry is a two-year program.

Entry Requirements

The Master of Optometry (374JA) is only open to students who have completed the Bachelor of Vision Science (372JA) at the University of Canberra.

Applicants who are studying a Bachelor of Vision Science from another institution are encouraged to apply for admission into the Bachelor of Vision Science (372JA) at UC to become eligible for the Masters. These applicants are eligible to apply for consideration of credit towards a UC Bachelor of Vision Science (in accordance with UC's credit policy and procedure) to reduce the duration of this course.

Limited Commonwealth-supported places (CSPs) are available for this course and will be awarded on academic merit. To be considered for a CSP, please submit your application by 1 December 2023. Eligible applicants will be notified from 15 December 2023. The University will continue to issue fee-paying (FEE) offers until this date, offers for any eligible CSP applicants will be updated accordingly.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
A) a completed bachelor degree in human nutrition
B) two degree level units in chemistry
C) four degree level units in human biology and human physiology
D) two second year degree level units in biochemistry
E) four degree level units in food and nutrition science

Applicants must also provide a written statement of less than 500 words on why you believe you can contribute to the profession of dietetics. Citing references is not required. This provides the opportunity to inform the selection committee of your reasons for undertaking this course, to include any work experience and skills, and to include other relevant factors. The university reserves the right to seek further information relating to your letter of application.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have a bachelor qualification in a related field OR Bachelor qualification in an unrelated field AND three years' work experience OR Bachelor qualification in an unrelated field AND Graduate Certificate in Business or higher.

As the course will be taught in English, applicants must have an Academic IELTS of 6.5 or equivalent, with no band score below 6.0.
