Entry Requirements

Candidates wishing to apply for the Master of Health (Research) must show evidence of the following:
- Recognised undergraduate health sciences degree at honours level or
- Recognised health science degree and health experience, with demonstrated capacity and/or aptitude for research.
- Approval of your study plans with a supervising academic.

Two or more years of relevant work experience in health would be an advantage. If you have no prior research training, we would advise undertaking the combined coursework/research training option in the course.

Additional admission requirements

Students commencing in semester 2 can enrol part-time only.

Candidates are also required to complete a Research Education Program that will enable them to acquire the generic skills and attributes identified as appropriate for graduates of postgraduate research programs at the University of Canberra.

No Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) will be offered for any units included in this course.

We recommend that students progressing to this course from the Graduate Certificate in Counselling (SCC401) complete the four Graduate Certificate units before progressing to the Graduate Diploma or Master to ensure a smooth enrolment transition.

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
A) a completed bachelor degree in a health science discipline* with a credit or higher average, and
B) degree level studies in musculoskeletal anatomy, advanced functional anatomy, physiology of exercise and biomechanics.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to provide evidence that they meet the prerequisite degree level study requirements outlined above. You must upload a copy of the unit outlines/course syllabi of the relevant units only from your previous studies that show you meet these requirements with your application.

Entry Requirements

This course has closing dates to submit applications that vary from standard UC application submission dates. For a semester 1 start, applications are due by the 31st October; for a semester 2 start, applications are due by 30th June.

Applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:
A) completion of a qualifying psychology degree which is accredited by the Australian Psychological Accreditation Council (APAC) or equivalent*. The qualifying degree can be either:
i) a three year undergraduate psychology course or
ii) a Graduate Diploma for candidates who previously completed an undergraduate degree in a different discipline
B) Credit average in the APAC-required second and third year psychology units or graduate diploma units.

Entry is competitive. Applications are ranked by performance (GPA) in the APAC-required second and third year psychology / graduate diploma units. Thus, a higher than minimum GPA is generally needed to be offered a place.

* Equivalency is as determined by the Australian Psychological Society (APS)

A completed Bachelor degree in a Health discipline with a GPA of 5.0 or higher. Students need to have completed an undergraduate degree in any discipline (sports science - with preference given to those with an exercise or sports science degree) and those with a GPA of over 5.0. Additionally, students must demonstrate commitment from an appropriate staff member to act as their supervisor should their application for admission be successful.
