Bachelor (Honours)
Studying a Marine Biology Honours course will extend the knowledge you've built in your undergraduate Marine Biology degree. You'll complete advanced coursework in research skills to prepare you to complete an independent research project in an area of interest to you. Areas of study you can choose from include marine vertebrates, marine invertebrates, ecology, physiology and eco-tourism, marine plants, climate change impacts, fisheries. Your research project will provide the basis for a detailed thesis on your project findings, building your skills in academic writing and communication.
After completing your independent research project and thesis, you'll have the skill set and experience needed for a range of careers that require the ability to plan, implement and analyse a research project, as well as communicate the findings to other researchers, industry, and the community. Marine Biology Honours graduates find jobs in fisheries, eco-tourism, research management, and as teachers or technical officers in schools, colleges and universities.
