Pathway options

  • demonstrated maturity to take on a teaching role; and
  • well-developed leadership and personal qualities; and
  • demonstrated high level flying skills and high-level aeronautical knowledge.

Selection for the Flight Instructor Rating (FIR) pathway will be achieved by:

  • using the maturity, leadership and personal attributes demonstrated in the Graduate Diploma of Flight Management selection interview by the candidate; and
  • using the leadership and personal qualities attributes demonstrated in the PAA by the candidate; and
  • using the flight and ground training results achieved by the candidate in Flight Practicum 1-6 in the Graduate Diploma of Flight Management program.

All students will be required to complete the core Flight Practicums up to and including Flight Practicum 6. At this point, students who wish to follow the Flight Instructor Rating (FIR) pathway will be selected against the above criteria.
