While entrepreneurship is closely linked with the start-up process, risk and venture creation, this degree is about entrepreneurialism - focusing on the spirit or intention to behave in an enterprising or entrepreneurial way. This may involve starting a new business or venture, but also includes an all- encompassing view of how an enterprising mind-set and skillset can be useful in employment or as an active social citizen.

It is planned that the course will attract students from a wide cultural and discipline base, who will be able to share their knowledge and be part of a global community. The fundamental aim of the course is encourage students to develop their understanding of the concept and practice of enterprise and entrepreneurship. In so doing students will gain a deeper sense of their own entrepreneurial potential and be able to utilise this understanding to support their career and personal goals and aspirations. Given this, students who have completed the Graduate Certificate of Entrepreneurship are expected to utilize these skills within organisations by acting as intrapreneurs.
To complete the Graduate Certificate of Entrepreneurship, students must attain a total of 4 credit points comprising 2 credit points of core units offered by Deakin University and 2 credit points of core units offered by Coventry University, plus completion of the compulsory 0-credit point module, MAI010 Academic Integrity Module.
