The Graduate Certificate in Planning offers an entry pathway to the Master of Planning (C04007) for students who have professional experience in planning but do not have an appropriate undergraduate qualification, or have a bachelor's degree in an unrelated field.
The Graduate Diploma in City Planning is a year-long program designed for you to move into planning from a related discipline, or to gain a greater understanding of planning from a relevant professional standpoint.
This program will develop your skills and knowledge in urban design and urbanism with a strong emphasis on sustainability, quantification and implementation. Gain a multidisciplinary outlook with emphasis on communication and collaboration that emulates real-world practice.
Entry Requirements
Admission to this course requires:
an undergraduate degree in architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, town planning, urbanism, geography or a related field; or
completion of the requirements of the embedded Graduate Certificate with a WAM of at least 65.
Based on the applicant's undergraduate performance, the Program Director reserves the right to require a portfolio of work indicating relevant design interests and capabilities for admission. A portfolio should only be provided if requested by the Program Director.

This program will provide you with a foundational understanding of the ways cities and sites are constructed: physically, socially and environmentally, in addition to the knowledge and skills required for professional planning practice.

bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney, or an equivalent qualification.
Graduate Certificate students may apply to upgrade to the Diploma or Masters at the completion of their program (with a weighted average mark of at least 70).
This program will provide you with an understanding of the ways cities and sites are constructed: physically, socially and environmentally. You will develop the professional skills required to make valuable contributions to the policy, technical and regulatory aspects of urban and regional planning.
