Chemical engineering uses chemistry, physics and mathematics to convert raw materials or chemicals into more useful or valuable forms; and extractive metallurgy is involved in plant design, development, operations and control, management and research.
The Master of Philosophy aims to expand knowledge beyond the undergraduate honours or postgraduate diploma level, culminating in a research thesis. Upon completion of a master by research degree, you may apply to be considered for entry into a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program.
This program provides students with advanced study in engineering project management. It is designed to extend and deepen the knowledge and skills gained from an undergraduate degree in engineering.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for admission to Master of Engineering Project Management Advanced, a student must hold:
a Bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent three year or four year Engineering undergraduate degree from a recognised university (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing)
OR a Bachelor Honours degree in Engineering or equivalent four year Engineering undergraduate degree from a recognised university (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing)
OR a Graduate Certificate in Engineering Project Management.
Students admitted to the program with a Bachelor Honours degree in Engineering or equivalent four year Engineering undergraduate degree or a Graduate Certificate in Engineering Project Management will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing towards the program. The following degrees are considered to be equivalent to a Bachelor Honours degree in Engineering:
four year Engineering undergraduate degree that includes a significant final year research project component (one semester thesis) from an Australian university;
four year Engineering undergraduate degree that includes a significant final year research project component (one semester thesis) from a NOOSR Section 1 University.
Note: Students currently enrolled in the Master of Engineering Project Management (5660) will be eligible to transfer to the Master of Engineering Project Management Advanced prior to graduation. Graduates of the Master of Engineering Project Management (5660) are not eligible for admission to this program.
The course provides a balance in knowledge and skills between the three key areas of mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering, with a strong focus on project-based and multidisciplinary learning.

To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have- (a) a UWA bachelor's degree with a major in MJD-ENGSC Engineering Science1 or Bachelor of Automation and Robotics; or (b) a bachelor's degree, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA; and (i) the equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark of at least 65 per cent; and (ii) prior studies in engineering, physics or mathematics; or (c) completed units in the Master of Professional Engineering Preliminary course at UWA as prescribed by the School of Engineering; or (d) completed a UWA Diploma in Science with a major in MJD-ENGSC Engineering Science1. (e) Students entering this course having completed the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) at this university, or having completed an equivalent Engineers Australia accredited course as determined by the University, may not undertake a specialisation in a disciplinary field corresponding to the major they completed in their prior degree. 1 Students are required to achieve a course weighted average mark of at least 50 per cent in their bachelor's degree or a weighted average mark of at least 50 per cent in the Level 3 units of the Engineering Science major.

The School of Engineering accepts placement hours accrued through WIL and SVLG units/micro-credentials towards the Engineering Professional Practicum, to a maximum of 100 hours.
