Bachelor (Honours)
Mechatronic engineering is an interdisciplinary field that combines principles from mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and control engineering to design and create innovative products and processes. This integration of disciplines is aimed at producing more functional, adaptable and intelligent systems.
Mechatronics is widely used in various industries, including automotive, manufacturing, aerospace, medical, and consumer electronics, to create more efficient, versatile, and reliable systems. It's a dynamic field that adapts to the rapid changes in technology, constantly evolving with innovations in areas like Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and smart manufacturing.
The first year of study allows you to learn more about engineering and its various fields. From your second year, you will focus on your chosen major, while in your third and fourth year of the major you will branch into more specialised areas including: control theory, microcontroller architecture and applications, electronics, mechanical engineering design, foundation in electrical energy utilisation, robotics and flexible automation.
Your degree also includes 12-weeks hands-on industry experience, either in Australia or overseas, as well as a range of industry projects and other career-ready learning opportunities.
Our faculty's commitment to excellence is internationally recognised, as evidenced by the consistent ranking of our civil, manufacturing, mineral and mining, materials, and mechanical engineering courses among the top 150 universities worldwide.
