About this course

This course provides an opportunity for registered pharmacists, particularly those from rural and remote areas, to develop clinical pharmacy skills and qualifications in clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice research by offering a flexible education program delivered online.

You will learn contemporary evidence-based practice that is applied to both hospital and community pharmacy settings and you will study coursework units that cover quality use of medicines and medicine safety, advanced pharmacotherapeutics in cardiology, respiratory medicine, infectious diseases, oncology medicine, endocrinology, neurology, psychiatric disorders, gastroenterology and public health.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for an offer applicants must have:

  • An AQF 7 or above Bachelor level degree in Pharmacy from an Australian Pharmacy Council APC accredited undergraduate program from UTAS or another university or tertiary institution that is deemed equivalent.
  • Evidence of current AHPRA registration under the General Registration Type for the profession of Pharmacist, without conditions or notations, or equivalent evidence of registration in another country. AHPRA registrations will be confirmed and applicants with conditions or notations will be referred to the School for review.

International applicants are required to meet the English Language test requirement of IELTS 7.0 with no individual band less than 7.0.

    The course should equip registered pharmacists with the fundamental knowledge and skills to enhance career opportunities as a clinical or consultant (medication review) pharmacist.

    Course structure

    Students must successfully complete 100cp (8 units) which comprises of:
    2 Stages
    Stage 1
    1 core unit (12.5cp) and 3 choice units (37.5cp)
    Stage 2
    1 core unit (12.5cp) and 3 choice units (37.5cp)
