For PhD candidates, X5A Graduate Certificate in Research requires the completion of:
25 credit points of Core units
and
25 credit points of Elective units
All PhD candidates must complete XGR501 Introduction to Higher Degree by Research, and one other unit prior to Confirmation of Candidature. It is highly recommended that the second unit completed before Confirmation of Candidature be XGR502 Communicating Research, however it is understood that in some cases greater benefit may be gained from completion of an elective unit at this time. Please discuss with your primary Supervisor and the Course Coordinator of the Graduate Certificate in Research if a unit other than XGR502 is being considered.
Students will work with their primary supervisor to select Level 200-700 units available as electives that best support and complement the student's research program. Students may also enrol in Level 100 introductory language units with the primary supervisor's approval. Students must meet any unit prerequisites for the selected units.
Candidates must complete all units in the Graduate Certificate within two years of full time (or equivalent) candidature.
