Develop your Health Service Management (Safety and Quality) skills and knowledge to meet today's workforce shortages and demands.

In this course, you'll gain the knowledge, analysis skills and practical competencies through using the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and National Model Clinical Governance Framework as the focus for study. The underlying theories and models, purpose, evidence for, application and systems to review each of the standards will be investigated. You'll also get opportunities to engage with Australian experts and participate in industry case studies and analysis.

The Graduate Certificate in Health Service Management (Safety and Quality) is offered on a part-time basis,

delivered fully online, and has optional half-day masterclasses (2-3 per semester) which will be delivered on campus in Sydney. You will also have the option to participate in the masterclasses via videoconference.

Entry requirements

a) Australian Bachelor Degree or equivalent level standard in any other institution in an unrelated discipline and a minimum of one year relevant work experience in the health sector

OR

b) A minimum of five years approved relevant work experience in the health sector or other special circumstances (e.g. post-secondary qualifications) as approved by the Dean or delegated authority.

What you will learn

  • 1 Critically analyse clinical safety and quality in healthcare.
  • 2 Critique and communicate safety and quality issues related to the delivery of health services considering social, environmental, political and economic factors.
  • 3 Analyse foundational and contemporary health service management theory, principles and processes, and reflect on their efficacy in current practice.
  • Course structure

    This course comprises 4 x 12.5 credit point coursework units, to be completed over one or more semesters.
