Graduate Certificate
Taught by a team of highly qualified national and international experts from industry, academia, and government, the course is delivered through a series of intensive "face-to-face" learning opportunities, supported by extensive online content. You will be introduced to a range of techniques that improve the information that geologists produce in the mine environment that are relevant to mining engineers and metallurgists.
Admission to Graduate Certificate courses at the University of Tasmania normally requires the prior completion of an AQF7 (or equivalent) undergraduate degree. Specific requirements for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Economic Geology are as follows:
(i) a Bachelor of Science/Applied Science majoring in geoscience, or
(ii) a minimum of two years' employment as a geoscientist in the minerals industry or government.
To demonstrate eligibility for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Economic Geology, applicants must provide a copy of their undergraduate academic transcript/s. Where seeking entry partly or solely based on an applicant's previous professional experience, a curriculum vitae and the names and contact details for two professional referees should be provided.

International applicants to the Graduate Certificate in Economic Geology (K5F) must meet the same entry requirements as Domestic students. Additionally, international applicants from non-English speaking countries must meet the following English language test requirements:

The Graduate Certificate in Economic Geology is a great way to upskill in your current career as a geoscientist. The Graduate Certificate in Economic Geology (GCertEconGeol) is a 2 x 25-credit point unit course that is completed in a minimum of 0.5 to a maximum of 2 years. Students must complete two units from the schedule - one core and one elective from a select list of units.
