About this course

The Honours program in Medical Science is designed to provide students with a firm foundation for further study in medicine and future vocational career pathways. The opportunity to undertake an in-depth research project will provide an important understanding of the processes of medical research in laboratory, community and clinical settings. As well as the major research project students are required to investigate and communicate analysis and outcomes of other important contemporary biomedical research.

Entry requirements

All applicants must have:

  • Submitted a completed Project Confirmation Form before submitting an application for entry into the honours course (for more information on the application process see the Project Handbook).
  • Completed at least three years of 100% load in M3N, or similar approved course interstate; with credit average, or equivalent.

Career pathways

The profession of Medicine offers a diverse range of career opportunities. On completion of the MBBS, graduates will work in an approved hospital undertaking general medical training as an intern. Graduates of the BMedSc (Hons) will be well placed for advanced vocational career pathways including specialist training in one of a number of fields such as anaesthesia, dermatology, obstetrics and gynaecology, geriatric medicine, paediatrics, pathology, psychiatry, radiology and surgery.
