Bachelor (Honours)
This on-campus, 1-year full-time or 2-year part-time honours degree course is offered through the Tasmanian School of Business and Economics (TSBE) at Hobart.
Entry to the Bachelor of Economics Honours program is open to students who have completed:
Admission to Honours courses at the University of Tasmania require qualifications equivalent to an Australian bachelor's degree. Applicants must achieve the required grade in their qualifying studies, meet any prerequisite subjects and the English language requirements to be eligible for an offer. Admission is conditional on research project and supervisor availability.
English Language Requirements
For students who do not meet the English Language Requirement through citizenship or prior studies in English in an approved country, evidence of an approved English language test completed within the last 2 years must be provided. See the English Language Requirements page for more information.

The Bachelor of Economics (Hons) degree opens up many career opportunities and past graduates have established careers in a wide range of activities. Some examples include: central banking, commercial consulting, commercial banking, local government, administration, management, market research, merchant banking, political advising, stockbroking and teaching.
Postgraduate study
If you successfully complete this course, you may be also be eligible to apply for a range of other postgraduate courses including Graduate Certificates and Graduate Diplomas and Masters by coursework and research.
Candidates are required to complete four units of coursework and to write a dissertation under individual supervision.
The award of honours is given in relation to the whole of the year's work. Grades of award are - First Class; Second Class, upper division; Second Class, lower division; or Third Class.
