About this scholarship

How to apply

No separate application necessary – you must have applied for the RTP Scholarship (domestic or international).

Successful recipients will be notified at the end of each year if they are successful in receiving one of these scholarships to commence the following year.

Benefits

The scholarship will provide a stipend allowance equivalent to the minimum rate of the Research Training Program (RTP) stipend scholarship, as escalated on 1 January of each year, for up to two years for a master's by research and up to three years for a PhD, subject to satisfactory academic performance. A successful PhD applicant may apply for an extension of up to six months.

Who's eligible

You must:

  • have an unconditional offer of admission or be currently enrolled in a master's by research or PhD at the Sydney Medical School
  • apply for a Research Training Program (RTP) stipend scholarship
  • conduct research in neuroscience
  • be a university graduate or graduand
  • must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen.

Note: Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need and/or social disadvantage, and conduct the clinical aspects of their research through the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
