Postgraduate Research Scholarship on Cancer Screening Implementation Research

About this scholarship

A unique opportunity is available for an outstanding PhD scholar to explore the acceptability of risk-stratified cancer screening in Australia and issues related to its implementation.

Open to: 

  • The Scholarship is offered subject to the applicant having an unconditional offer of admission or being currently enrolled in a PhD at the University of Sydney.
  • Applicants must undertake research into cancer screening implementation.
  • Applicants must also hold a Master of Public Health degree.
  • Applicants must have previous relevant research experience and a good understanding of cancer screening.
  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens, Australian Permanent Residents or New Zealand Citizens.

Value and Duration:

A successful applicant enrolled full-time will be provided with a stipend allowance equivalent to the Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Rate for up to 1 year, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

A successful applicant enrolled part-time will be provided with a stipend allowance equivalent to 50% of the full-time stipend rate, for up to two years, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

A successful PhD recipient may apply for an extension of up to 6 months based on full-time enrolment or 1 year based on part-time enrolment, but the extension is subject to available research funding.
