Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Mental Health and Technology

Background:

New and emerging technologies are rapidly changing the world we live in, including the way we assess, monitor and manage our mental health and wellbeing. Project Synergy is tasked with co-designing, building and testing innovative technology solutions that may help reform Australia’s mental health system. A unique opportunity exists for one (or more) Research Masters or PhD scholars to help us realise the future of merging technology and mental health for better outcomes.

This research will be undertaken at the University of Sydney’s Brain and Mind Centre.

Open to:

1. This scholarship is offered subject to the applicant having an unconditional offer of admission or being currently enrolled in a Masters by Research or PhD at the Sydney Medical School at the University of Sydney.
2. The applicant must conduct research in the area of mental health and technology.
3. Applicants must be able to demonstate knowledge, skills and experience in mental health and the use of technology.
4. Applicants must hhave completed at least one of the following:
   • a First Class Honours degree,
   • a four year Bachelor's degree with an outstanding record of professional and/or research achievements since graduation, or
   • a Master's degree in a related field with a substantial research component.
5. Applicants must be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident.

Value & Duration: 

The Scholarship will provide an annual stipend allowance equivalent to the minimum Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend rate (indexed on 1 January each year) for up to two years for a Masters by Research, or three years for a PhD, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

An extension of up to six months for a PhD recipient may be available, depending on the availability of funds.
