Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Exploring Shared Decision Making

A unique opportunity is available for an outstanding Masters by Research or PhD scholar to conduct research into shared decision making models for patients from refugee-like backgrounds.

The successful recipient will work within the NHMRC funded Centre for Research Excellence Ask Share Know: rapid evidence for general practice decisions.

This Scholarship is funded by a Centres of Research Excellence Grant from the NHMRC.

Open to:

• Applicants must have an unconditional offer of admission for full-time studies in a Masters by Research or PhD at the School of Public Health at the University of Sydney.
• Applicants must be willing to undertake research in the field of shared decision making models for patients from refugee-like backgrounds.
• Applicants must hold at least one of the following:

1. Honours degree (First Class or Second Class upper), and/or
2. Master's degree in Public Health with a substantial research component, and/or
3. Master’s degree in Public Health with coursework units of study in research methods.

• Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or New Zealand Citizen.

Value and Duration:

The Scholarship will provide an annual stipend allowance of $30,000 per annum (indexed on the 1 January 2018), subject to satisfactory academic performance.  
For a successful Masters by Research recipient the Scholarship will be for up to two years, commencing on 1 July 2018.

For a successful PhD recipient the scholarship will commence on 1 July 2018 and will end on 31 May 2021.

If a successful applicant converts from a Research Masters to a PhD or vice-versa, the maximum duration of the scholarship becomes that of the new candidature.
