This scholarship provides a stipend equivalent to the minimum Research Training Program (RTP) stipend rate plus an additional $6000 per year, subject to satisfactory academic performance. The scholarship is tenable for:
Domestic students who relocate to take up this scholarship may claim up to $1000 for each adult and $500 for each child for eligible expenses. The maximum value of relocation expenses you may receive is $3000.
International students who relocate from their home country to take up this scholarship may claim:
International students may claim a maximum value of relocation expenses of $9200. Academic course fees and the Student Services Amenities fees are not provided for international recipients.

This scholarship was established in 1988 by Mrs Fancy Lawrence, wife of Emeritus Professor Peter Lawrence. He was a Professor of Anthropology at the University from 1971 to 1986 who had a particular interest in Papua New Guinea and Melanesia.
It is funded by the Peter Lawrence Memorial Bequest and The Carlyle Greenwell Research Fund for students in Anthropology.
