About this scholarship

How to apply

No separate application necessary – you must have applied for the RTP Scholarship (domestic).

Successful recipients will be notified at the end of each year if they are successful in receiving one of these scholarships to commence the following year.

Benefits

The scholarship will provide a stipend allowance equivalent to the minimum rate of the Research Training Program (RTP) stipend scholarship, as escalated on 1 January of each year, for up to two years for a master's by research and up to three years for a PhD, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

A successful PhD applicant may apply for an extension of up to six months.

Who's eligible

You must:

  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen
  • have an unconditional offer of admission or be currently enrolled in a master's by research or PhD at the Sydney Medical School
  • apply for a Research Training Program (RTP) stipend scholarship
  • conduct research in at least one of the following areas:
    i. Alzheimer's disease
    ii. cancer
    iii. heart disease
    iv. medically-related basic biology research
  • be a university graduate or graduand.

This scholarship was established in 2012 by a gift from Francis M Hooper.
