About this scholarship

Background:

A unique scholarship opportunity is available for an outstanding Masters by Research or PhD scholar to conduct research with Alan Ng Professor of Haematology and the Department of Haematology at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

This Scholarship was established in 2009 by a gift from Professor Alan BP Ng and Mrs Enid Ng.

Open to:

  1. This Scholarship is offered subject to the applicant having an unconditional offer of admission or being currently enrolled in a Masters by Research or PhD at the Sydney Medical School at the University of Sydney.
  2. Applicants must demonstrate an interest in Myeloma or related disorders.
  3. Applicants must have been accepted into the Joint Specialist Advisory Committee (JSAC) Training Scheme in Haematology of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, or single discipline Haematology stream of either college.

Value and Duration:

The Scholarship will provide a stipend allowance of $45,000 per annum for up to two years for a Masters by Research and up to three years for a PhD, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

A successful PhD applicant may apply for an extension of up to six months.

A successful applicant will also receive funding to cover the costs of return economy airfares, registration and accommodation to attend the Haematological Society of Australia and New Zealand annual scientific meeting each year of the Scholarship. The successful applicant is encourages to present at these conferences.
