Studying at the Sydney Dental School provides a unique opportunity for collaborative research and interaction with other health disciplines. Across the University there are exciting collaborative research projects actively pursued.
The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is a research-based degree in which students undertake supervised research in the discipline of dentistry. This course offers students the chance to work with a supervisor who, through their own research, is actively contributing to the development of new knowledge and understanding in the field of dentistry. This course is normally completed over two years full-time, or four years part-time, at the end of which candidates submit a thesis for examination. The word limit for a thesis submitted to the Sydney Dental School is 80,000 words.
MPhil students are required to successfully complete a unit of study on research methods, although the thesis is the major examinable assessment requirement for the degree. MPhil students are based primarily at the Westmead Centre for Oral Health and Sydney Dental School and benefit from their peers, teachers and the wider health community that is accessible through the University. Join the Australia's first dental school and help us to put the mouth into health.
