About this course

The Master of Medicine (Child and Adolescent Health), formerly Paediatric Medicine, provides you with the core knowledge and clinical decision making skills required for day-to-day paediatric practice.

Child and adolescent health covers a broad range of case-based practical and relevant subjects, allowing clinicians to increase their understanding of how to provide the best healthcare for children. As a child and adolescent health student, you will learn from Sydney Medical School's highly regarded clinical, education and research staff in the Discipline of Child and Adolescent Health, based at the Children's Hospital at Westmead. The program reflects their clinical and academic expertise in a wide range of areas, including allergy, immunisation, infectious diseases and child obesity.

Students will gain a practical and theoretical foundation in paediatrics, from newborns to adolescents. Coursework is case-based and you can study at a basic or advanced level. It is facilitated by subspecialty experts who will guide your learning and facilitate valuable interactions within your student group. Designed for working professionals, our courses are offered in the format of online distance education, allowing flexible integration of your studies with your professional and personal life.

The Master of Medicine (Child and Adolescent Health) is suitable for all doctors interested in child and adolescent health, regardless of seniority or experience. We welcome doctors who are working in general practice or specialty paediatrics, in the community or in a hospital, who wish to pursue a career in paediatrics or who simply wish to improve their knowledge and skills in child and adolescent health.
