Entry requirements

 

Admission to candidature for the Master of Exercise Physiology requires the applicant to have:

  • A bachelor or master's degree or a PhD in exercise science or a health-related discipline from the University of Sydney, or qualifications deemed by the faculty to be equivalent; and
  • A minimum GPA of 4.5 out of 7.0 which is an approximate Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 60 per cent
  • Evidence of*:
    1. a current Exercise Scientist Accreditation (AES) with Exercise and Sport Science Australia; or
    2. completion of a bachelor or master's degree accredited by Exercise and Sport Science Australia at the level of Exercise Science; or
    3. an approved Graduate Entry Assessment from Exercise and Sport Science Australia

*by providing evidence of accreditation, applicants are also proving extensive pre-existing knowledge in human anatomy, human or exercise physiology and research design and statistics.

Using principles such as biomechanics, musculoskeletal rehabilitation and gait analysis, our graduates work as exercise scientists or exercise physiologists in a variety of settings, including:

  • the sport, health and fitness industries
  • occupational health and safety

  • education
  • medical insurance.

This course has provisional accreditation status at the level of Exercise Physiology from Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA).

Full or provisional course accreditation status must be awarded for graduates to be eligible for accreditation credentialing with ESSA.

Following successful accreditation with ESSA as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, graduates are eligible to provide services under Medicare, the Department of Veterans Affairs, WorkCover and private health insurance funds.
