Entry requirements

 

A successful applicant for admission to the Graduate Diploma in Ophthalmic Science will hold one of the following:

  • A medical degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification
  • A bachelor's degree in health realted discipline with first or second class honours from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification
  • A bachelor's degree in a non-health related disicipline without first or second class honours from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification. Applicants must have completed work equivalent to a first or second class honours bachelor's degree or pass a preliminary examinations/s as prescribed by the Faculty.
  • A minimum of 5 years professional work experience in a health-related field or pass a preliminary examination(s) as prescribed by the Faculty.

The course aims to assist medical graduates applying for a position in a Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) recognised training program. It also aims to assist all graduates who are interested in careers in the visual and neurosciences to have a good grounding in the ophthalmic and visual sciences
