The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is completed entirely by research where you will work with an assigned supervisor and an associate supervisor. Full-time candidature is normally three to four years, while part-time candidature can take up to eight years. You will be required to complete a probationary year and to produce an extended thesis proposal (8000 to 10,000 words) at the end of your first year of full-time or part-time equivalent candidature. The normal length of the PhD thesis is approximately 80,000 words.
