The Master of Engineering Science/Master of Commerce double degree allows you to graduate with two postgraduate qualifications. This degree is ideal for you if you're an early or mid-career professional seeking to advance your career.
In this dual master's program, you'll study discipline specific courses unique to Engineering or Commerce as well as building skills essential to professional decision making, project and staff management, leadership and strategy.
The Master of Engineering Science is designed for engineers and graduates wishing to develop and expand their knowledge and skills in their current area of expertise. Studying a Master of Engineering Science enables you to meet or maintain professional accreditation standards and provides opportunities for continuing professional development.
The Master of Commerce is innovative, industry-relevant and incorporates the latest thinking in business. If you're a non-business graduate wanting to develop your skills and knowledge in business, or a business graduate who would like to broaden your business knowledge, this program allows you to choose from a range of disciplines to reach your career goals.
You can graduate with two master's after three years of study, however, students with advanced standing will be able to complete their studies up to a year and a half sooner.
You'll study in a research-intense environment where you'll be exposed to fundamental knowledge and cutting-edge advances in engineering and business so you can bring the latest practices into the workforce.
Upgrade your skills by focusing on your discipline of choice or opt for a multidisciplinary approach when choosing your electives. This program offers both disciplinary and advanced disciplinary knowledge, with a strong enquiry-based learning component for proactive learning.

This degree is offered in a range of 9 engineering specialisations tailored to the needs of today's engineering industry (additional specialisations will be made available in 2023). Admissions to the standard 2-year program requires the following:
A 3 year Bachelor Degree (AQF Level 7 equivalent) in a cognate** discipline with a minimum 65% average*.
*Qualifications from non-211 Chinese Universities will require a 70% average

Recognition of prior learningYou may be eligible for up to 72 Units of Credit depending on your background:
For the Commerce component, up to 24 Units of Credit may be awarded based on your previous Business studies (at Bachelor level or higher).
For the Engineering Science component, between 24 and 48 Units of Credit may be awarded:
You'll be notified of the credits in your official letter of offer. The amount of credit awarded will reduce your overall degree duration by up to one and a half years.
Our Engineering Postgraduate Admissions Scheme (EPAS) is an alternative pathway for students considering postgraduate study. You may be asked to provide evidence of your English proficiency to study at UNSW depending on your educational background and citizenship. English language skills are vitally important for coping with lectures, tutorials, assignments and examinations - this is why UNSW requires a minimum English language competency for enrolment.
If you're completing an Australian Year 12 qualification (e.g. NSW HSC or equivalent), you do not need to provide anything extra to prove your proficiency. Your qualification will be used as evidence of your English proficiency.
