About this course

The Graduate Certificate in NDIS Business Development offers students a program of study to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the issues affecting the disability sector. As such it offers study of both legal and business frameworks that might impact upon organisational operations that may affect the optimum delivery of client focussed services. At the end of the program of study students will have a sound grasp of the legislative frameworks underpinning the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Entry requirements

a) hold an AQF Level 7 qualification and two years relevant work experience*;
or

(b) have at least three years of of relevant work experience* approved by the course coordinator;
and

(c) all applicants must submit a Statement of Service for their work experience from their employer.

What you will learn

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. demonstrate specialist knowledge in relation to historical underpinnings and current application of the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Graduates will develop professional skills in interpreting the relevant legislation and understanding its application to impact on disability law;
  2. demonstrate ethical action and social responsibility with particular recognition and understanding of the social impacts that the National Disability Insurance Scheme legislation will have on sector organisations at a national level;
  3. demonstrate sophisticated skills in business development in organisations within the disability sector;
  4. demonstrate awareness and applied knowledge needed for the effective governance of organisations within the disability sector including the ability to manage an organisation that provides disability services;
  5. demonstrate knowledge of Australian business structures with the ability to identify and discuss the legal issues that may arise in the running of a business model and recognise dissimilar viewpoints and combine ideas to support a business case; and
  6. produce clear and coherent written communications that are based upon analysis, synthesis, and the application of professional judgement, as well as reflection and evaluation of the relevant law, to competently and confidently apply the skills of legal reasoning and analysis to factual problems.

The qualification will allow existing managers, and those seeking managerial level employment within disability organisations to further their knowledge of legal processes and obligations relevant to organisational business development priorities in the NDIS.
