Health economists apply economic principles to the health care system. They use their expertise to determine how resources can best be used to improve the health of populations.

Our graduate certificate is the only one in Australia to offer courses in both mainstream economic theory and practice and health economics. You will:

• complete three economics courses, one specific to health
• choose a public health elective based on your interests
• study with internationally renowned and highly experienced health economists
• learn the basic foundations of micro and macro-economic principles
• explore a range of theories and methodologies used in health economics
• develop practical skills and apply your learning to real-world problems.

Our flexible and modern teaching structure provides options for completing the certificate online.

You can progress to further study with the Graduate Diploma in Health Economics or Master of Health Economics and Policy. You could end up working alongside a biotechnology company as a consultant. You might advise on healthcare policy. Perhaps you'll evaluate product cost-effectiveness for a pharmaceutical group or analyse data from clinical trials.
