Doctorate (PhD)
The doctorate will take you 3 years to complete full time and combines leadership training and mentoring with a 40,000-word research project. The program is intended to advance your clinical research and leadership skills, and provide you with a point of distinction for senior medical roles.
The leadership training component of the doctorate includes courses from UQ, Queensland Health, hospitals, or medical colleges. You will also be given an opportunity to be mentored by a senior medical specialist who can provide you with advice about career progression.
Your research project will be completed at your current workplace and will be supported by both an academic adviser at UQ and an adviser in your workplace. The project is designed to strengthen your problem-solving and communication skills, while also helping you develop the depth of knowledge needed for advanced health careers.
