The Charlie Perkins Scholarships

About this scholarship

Each year the Charlie Perkins Scholarship Trust offers two Scholarships for Indigenous postgraduates to study either Oxford or Cambridge universities for up to three years.

To be considered for the Scholarship, applicants must have applied for a course at Oxford and/or Cambridge. Applicants must also submit:

  • Charlie Perkins Trust application form
  • Cover letter
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • An official transcript of university results (including mid-year results if available)
  • Confirmation of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent through a signed written statement (including common seal) of an Aboriginal Heritage Association, Aboriginal Corporation or Land Council in the community where you live or have lived
  • Five referees (three of which should be academic referees) should forward written reports to richard.potok@auroraproject.com.au. The references should highlight your capabilities, your past contribution to the Indigenous community, and the perceived future benefit of doing your chosen course. One of your references should be from an Elder in your community, and should highlight your connection to the community.

Before contacting the Trust, please visit the Perkins Trust website www.perkinstrust.com.au for more detail about the required documents.

The Charlie Perkins Scholarships will only be awarded to students who are accepted to study at either Oxford or Cambridge. In most instances, this will require a First Class Honours degree or a very strong Second Class Honours degree.

If you require any clarification on the information contained on the website, please do not hesitate to contact the Trust at scholarships@auroraproject.com.au.
