The Graduate Diploma of Mental Health Nursing is designed for Registered Nurses who are already practising in the speciality area of Mental Health and want to upskill or take their career to the next level. It is also suited to those nurses who want to move into the field of Mental Health Nursing. The program has been developed by experts in the field and successful completion of this diploma allows graduates to specialise as a Mental Health Nurse in Australia.

This program offers students the opportunity to develop an in-depth appreciation of the socio-political issues involved in the delivery of health care and the important role of evidence-based practice in providing mental health care.
Students will gain a comprehensive introduction to the core principals of advanced health and risk assessments, as well as an understanding of the psychosocial, therapeutic and pharmacological interventions available in the field of mental health care. They will also have the opportunity to explore the strategies of individual, family and group therapeutic interventions used to improve the health outcomes for an individual with mental health concerns.
This program is positioned within a complex health arena, wherein individuals with a mental health concern and their carers play a central role in the delivery of health care.
