If you are a practising Registered nurse with a special interest in the human eye and people with ophthalmic disorders, this program is designed for you. The University of Notre Dame Australia has collaborated with Sydney Hospital and the Sydney Eye Hospital to design this program. You will study part-time for one year to develop the knowledge and skills to provide specialised care to people with ocular problems. The human eye is a complex and fascinating organ. As an ophthalmic nurse, you will be qualified to treat people with a wide range of ocular problems. The program covers every aspect of ophthalmic nursing, including the physiology of the eye, diseases that affect the eye, clinical management, and the complexities of managing people with comorbidities such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
You will be equipped to conduct advanced clinical assessments, interpret clinical data, and make sound clinical judgements about patient care. In addition, you will also develop your capacity for leadership, learn to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and have developed problem-solving and clinical reasoning within the context of ophthalmic nursing.
The Graduate Certificate in Ophthalmic Nursing has been developed and taught in conjunction with experts from the Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital.
A Graduate Certificate in Ophthalmic Nursing will give you the skills and knowledge to specialise in Ophthalmic Nursing.
