About this course

The internationally recognised MBA develops business knowledge and practical skills to advance your career in today's competitive global markets. You'll gain a broad understanding of contemporary management operations, as well as learning how to solve complex issues and manage the challenges of technology and finance, and other critical business factors.

Your professional expertise will be honed by completing practical assessment activities in leadership, problem solving and communication skills. In addition to core units, the course builds substantial expertise in an area through the completion of a research project.

You have the option of selecting either a specialisation, which includes an industry research project, or choosing two elective units from a wide range of subjects together with the industry research project. The industry research project is ideal for developing extensive knowledge of an issue related to your current workplace or to a career you wish to pursue.

The Master of Business Administration is also available via an online delivery mode, offering up to six intakes a year. Advanced standing may apply to students who have completed relevant undergraduate and postgraduate study.

What you will learn

You will study four foundation units, eight core units and select either a specialisation, which includes an industry research project, or two elective units in addition to the industry research project. By studying a specialisation, you build substantial and specialised expertise to complement the general management focus of the core units.

* These specialisations are also available to International students in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

The MBA equips graduates for leadership roles across a broad spectrum of industries in the public and private sectors.

Graduates are well-suited to management roles in areas such as accounting, information and knowledge industries, human resources, health services and tourism and hotel management.

Course structure

To be awarded the Master of Business Administration students must complete 16 units (192 credit points) comprising:

  • 12 core units; and
  • 1 specialisation or
  • 2 elective units and BUSN7003 Industry Research Project

Exit Awards

Students can choose to exit with the Graduate Diploma in Business Administration if 8 units have been completed.

Students can choose to exit with the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration if 4 units have been completed.
